We are working hard to improve student attendance at Finney this year. We will recognize the classes that meet our goal of 98% or better attendance each week. Congratulations to Mrs. Nguyen’s class, Room 402, with 98.7% attendance. Whole school attendance last week was 93.6%.

Students can use all district online programs over break: i-Ready Math, Smarty Ants Reading (PreK-2nd grade), and Achieve3000 Reading (2nd-6th grade). Click here for the student sign on page. If you need your child’s log on information, ask your teacher. Also, make sure your child READS every day. Reading for pleasure is one of the best ways to get better at reading!

Back to School Night is Thursday, August 11, with classroom presentations at 5:30, 5:50 and 6:10, to allow for families with multiple students. Masks highly recommended. This is an event designed for parents and guardians; children need not attend, but it they do they must be supervised by a parent at all times.

Please report absences, and Covid-19 test results to finneyschool@cvesd.org. When submitting at-home negative results to return early from isolation or as proof following a close contact, write your child’s name, the date, and the time on the test and then submit a picture to finneyschool@cvesd.org. We can not accept pictures of tests without this information. Results should be checked at least 15 minutes after taking the test and no later than 30 minutes after taking the test. Results outside of this time frame are not valid.

Finney Family Handbook Highlight: Dress Code
DRESS FOR SUCCESS! 

• No crop tops.
• Jewelry can be dangerous or get damaged/lost and should be left at home.
• Hats, beanies and/or hoods are not to be worn in class.
• No make-up.
• No long nails and no fake nails.
• Wear closed toe shoes with gripping, non-slip soles suitable for physical education.
• Shorts need to pass the student’s fingertips when arms are at his/her sides.
• Tank tops must have straps at least 3 fingers wide.
• Gang-related attire is prohibited.
• No clothing with references to drugs or alcohol.
• Please ensure words on clothing are elementary school appropriate.
• Please mark all sweaters, jackets, and coats with your child’s name.

Welcome Back! The first day of school is Wednesday, July 20 at 7:45 a.m., and is a minimum day. Students report directly to their classroom on the first day. Breakfast is available FREE for all students and is served 7:15-7:35 a.m.

You will receive an email on Tuesday morning, July 19 letting you know your child’s classroom and teacher name. For privacy reasons, class lists will not be posted.

Finney PTA invites you to a Teacher Meet & Greet Picnic: Tuesday, July 19, 1:00-2:00 on the Finney field. Come meet your teacher and enjoy food courtesy of PTA.

We are distributing Covid-19 at-home test kits. We encourage you to test your student on Tuesday or Wednesday morning prior to returning to campus. If students test positive, keep them home to avoid exposure to other students and staff. Testing is NOT required, but highly encouraged. You can pick up your test kit(s) at the Meet & Greet Picnic on Tuesday. If you cannot make it to the picnic, we will be here until 4:00 on Tuesday 7/19.
