Starting in July, 2023, CVESD is eliminating second chance breakfast. FREE BREAKFAST for all students will be served 7:15-7:40 ONLY. Please plan accordingly.

School Messenger is CVESD’s official communication channel. If you have not received an email from Finney at 5:00 pm every Sunday during the school year, either we do not have your email correct, or your email is blocking emails from Finney. We have received feedback that parents would like us to also send phone and text whenever we send an email. We will do this going forward. To opt in for text messages, text “yes” to 67587.

Student safety is our priority. Drills are part of our Comprehensive School Safety Plan. Finney will hold our regularly scheduled Secure Campus Drill on Tuesday, May 29. Secure Campus means that access to our school is more restrictive than usual as a precautionary measure. Teaching and learning continue, though some operations and activities may be modified.

K-6th Grade will have a Field Day on Friday, May 26. Students will be outside playing field day games 8:30-11:30. Please dress for the weather, wear P.E. shoes, hat, sunscreen, etc. Each grade level is asked to wear a different color shirt on Friday.

Finney’s current chronic absentee rate is 34.5%. That means over one third of students have missed 10% or more of school days. We cannot teach them if they are not here. Finney attendance last week was 90.9% – our goal is 98%. Mr. Barraza’s class had the highest attendance last week with 98.8%. Students should only miss school when they are sick.

Traffic reminders: The white curb is for drop off/pick up only (do not park and leave your car on the white curb at arrival and dismissal). Use caution when crossing the street. Parking lot is for staff and those with permits (i.e., those requiring special assistance). Right turn only onto Byrd Street when exiting the parking lot. Do not park in spaces marked “Staff”. If you are interested in volunteering to help with traffic in the mornings, 7:30-7:45, please let the principal know.
