The Kids’ Heart Challenge event is coming up on Friday, February 22 (formerly Jump Rope for Heart). Students can continue to collect donations for the American Heart Association and win prizes up until the event. More info at www.heart.org/kidsheartchallenge .

Congratulations to Mrs. Showman’s class, Room 603, for having 100% attendance last week–way to go! Finney’s overall attendance was 94.6% last week. Our goal is 98%. Be sure to bring your child to school every day on time. Every minute of every day counts!

Please note: we have updated the “Closed Campus” section of the Finney Parent Handbook to clarify our policy:

In an effort to ensure a safe campus, Finney Elementary School is a closed campus. All students must report to the front office before leaving early or when returning to campus.  All visitors and/or volunteers must report to the office to sign in and receive a visitor/volunteer badge. All gates will be locked during school hours. No parent may enter campus during school hours (7:45-2:15) without first signing in and receiving a visitor badge in the office. Parents who attend morning announcements on the blacktop must exit campus, or sign in in the office immediately following announcements. Classroom visits must be pre-arranged with the teacher. With the exception of preschool, parents are not permitted to walk their child to class when bringing their child late. If a child is leaving early, the person picking up the child must come to the office to sign the child out and the office personnel will locate the child and have him/her come to the office. Students will not be allowed to come to the office ahead of time and wait for the person picking him/her up.
